I'm living in Australia and i would like someone to tell me, why are Athlon64 FX CPUs so expensive? Can they really be that good?
(I'm aware that they are for gaming)
Athlon64 FX-55 = $1,235 AUD
Athlon64 FX-57 = $1,549 AUD

Not anymore than regular A64's per clock. :P

They're just expensive because they're flagship products. The only advantage is the clock speed and unlocked multis, but thy're clocked so high you cant really take advantage of it. Even If I did have the cash, I wouldnt dish it out on them.

They are good overclockers

Theyre ultra fast when under pressure, especially high intesity games.
as said, no more than the athlon 64 series. The fact is they are expensive mainly for the unlocked mulitpliers.

To be honest, just steer clear of them, you can get more bang for buck in the athlon 64 series and the X2's

Hehe last time i checked, stock FX procs dont ship at 3.6GHz+ ;)

i love them they are the ultimate, but the x2 processors are starting to look good as the fx series is quite expensive. but the fx are awesome for gaming but the thing is do we need them
