Is it true that the following CPU:
Athlon64 X2 3800+ (2x2.0GHz 2GHzHTSB Manchester) Soc 939 Retail
is equal to an Intel 4.0Ghz processor (if it existed).
If its not the same, what does the (2x2.0GHz) mean?

NO

It means it have 2 cores each operating at 2ghz. This does NOT EQUAL one 4ghz cpu. It does how ever improve mutitasking greatly over a single core cpu. It allows you to run 2 threads at the same time with out loosing any performance.

So which Intel P4 CPU is equal to the Athlon64 X2 3800+, in Ghz and overall performance?
Pentium D 3.2Ghz i think would be the closest since the X2 3800+ is more or less the equal to 2X 3200+ ;)
