ATI All In Wonder X600 PRO Not Working

Ok, I mis-clicked one of my tabs in Firefox and accidentally closed this window right after finishing my long-winded post on this topic, erasing all my work. Now for the short version!

I recently bought from IBuyPower.com a computer which I wanted to fit with the aforementioned ATI card I had lying around. I bought the computer with the lowest-model graphics card ( NVIDIA GeForce 6200), because it would be replaced immediately. While installing the drivers for the ATI that came with it on a CD, a dialogue box called "thunk.exe" popped up telling me that "atiiiexx.exe is missing." The rest of the install seemed to work properly, and the drivers seemed to work, because my desktop back round looked alot better. When trying to play several different games, my computer froze right after the loading screen, and right before gameplay could begin. I looked about the internet for newer drivers, and got from ATI's site the 64 bit version of the same drivers I installed, since I have a Core 2 Duo. They installed properly, without any strange dialogue boxes, but I had the same problem with freezing right before gameplay.

So right now I am running games off the NVidia, and they look like absolute garbage. I looked around the web for answers, but so far, the only suggestion I got (which seems a little far-fetched) was that my on board audio was messing with the video card somehow, and that I should buy an independent sound card. The guy who suggested this had the same problem, but was using an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium and a ATI RADEON X850 XT PCIe. I may try it, because I am on a somewhat similar setup, an ASUS P5NSLI and the ATI AIW X600 Pro.

Any ideas? Normally I can figure out stuff like this, but I'm totally stumped right now. Thanks for reading, and a preemptive thanks to all who answer.

You dont want the 64 bit drivers unless you are using a 64bit OS such as Windows XP X64 or Vista 6bit edition. You want the standard drivers for your OS.

That's the thing that is really sending me for a loop, I am using XP 64. I figure if I have a 64 bit processor, and a 64 bit OS, I should use 64 bit drivers, right?
