Hi, what are teh ATI equivalents of the following NVidia GPUs?

8800GT
9800GTX(+?)
GTX 280

And what is the best ATI card out there right now? Am I Right in saying that it's the 4870?

The 4870 is the best card from AMD (ATI) right now, and that falls in between the GTX 260 and GTX 280. The nVidia GTX 280 is the best card out now, but is about 2x more expensive then the 4870.

you know i always see people buying a brand of video card based on what double video card technology their motherboard supports: crossfire or SLI. the way i see it, im never going to use a dual card setup.. buying a single better card gives better results and ultimately saves money on your electric bill lol

Yeah good point lol.
But anyway, can anyone give me the ATI equivalents of these:
8800GT
9800GTX(+?)

correct me if i'm mistaken

8800gt - 3870
9800gtx - 4850
9800gx2 - 3870x2
gtx260 - 4870
gtx280 - n/a

i'm pretty this is how ati countered all of nvidia's cards

They are pretty close, the 4870 really falls between the GTX260 and GTX280 though.

in terms of the older cards:

my 7900 and my 8600 seem about the same

my x1950 pro seems better than my 8600 but not as good as my 8800
my x1650 pro seems about the same as my 7600
