ATI Radeon HD 4870 any good?

Just finding things out about the computer I just got and w that it has this GPU in it. I guess I'm wondering how it fairs to today's cards and what it's limitations are.

It's a pretty old card these days (debuted back in 2008). It can probably still handle new games on medium settings, but seeing as AMD is now on the HD7XXX series, it's definitely not the latest and greatest.

Oh wow that is pretty old. Would over clocking it help or would that be pointless?

I have a HD6450 and it won't run Skyrim at anything more than half graphics without jerking.

Well I have my Xbox with skyrim and such but my friend wants to play dirt 3 and I want yo play Star Wars the old republic. Worst case scenario I drop to medium graphics and deal with it till I can upgrade it.
