Hey guys, I know many of you have the X800 GTO.....can you share your experiences. I am interested in reliability and driver issues.

JAN :D

I really like the card, great overclocker. But im selling mine for $200 on amazon (since they will pay jmore there :P), and im going to be buying the x1600XT. Jan, since there the same price i'd go with the x1600XT instead.

The x1600XT is much better than the x800GTO, in 3DMark05, the x800gto gets around 4500, where the x1600XT gets around 5300. Not to mention it has SM3.0 and higher clock speeds.

Ok, which x1600 is it? Im just interested cos im tossing up between the x800 and x1600 at the moment. Im not sure wether i want the sapphire or hightech Pro IceQ x1600 or the connect3d or gecube gto's. I mainly want it for video editing and then gaming, any advice?

well the connect3d GTO isnt unlockable anymore. I would go with the x1600XT. It performs better and has newer technologies.

cheers, any particular brand you would steer me to? and why is it they cant be overclocked anymore?

Yeah the x1600xt seems mint but its just a bit out of my price range at the moment. Pricewise, the cheapest first would be:
sapphire x1600 pro 256 $286NZ
his Pro IceQ x1600 256 $300NZ
connect3d x800 gto $330NZ

Money isnt really the issue its just im not really sure which would be the best.

Flag that, just bought the powercolor x1600xl bravo edition, they seemed ok in the reviews and were noted to be good for video editing type stuff in that midrange, and it was cheaper than the normal xl so I was pretty happy with that. Thanks for all the help :-)
