Hello,

Last month i bought a X800 pro, i heard it was really good, so i installed it with the standard driver, and was gaming a bit, but i noticed it hooks up and laggs with punkbuster games. I tried the new drivers 4.9 and 4.10, but with 4.9 its the same and with 4.10 my system completely hangs up :(

I emailed ati and punkbuster but they are not really descent to solve probs, they just told me your settings are not good.

My system:

MSI K8N Neo-Platinum
Amd Athlon 64 3200+ 400mhz
Kingston HyperX PC3200
CLub3D Radeon X800 pro 256 mb

So does anybody know what i can do about it? I tried to change Punkbuster settings, but it doesnt affect the lag :(

solid system for sure man....i'm having a problem with games jerking...it's definitely not your video card.

Ya agreed :-). I've got problems with one or two games with that annoying jerking also.

I really stuck with it, nobody that can help you, you just spend 2000 euros to buy a master system, and it doesnt work proparly :(

As for gaming laggin out -- the video card (preferences aside) is more than adequate for gaminng. Both of you are running single channel memory? (although it shouldnt be an earthshattering difference but worth a check)

yes I am running single channel memory but there's nothing that can be done about that anyhow. besides I dont notice any diff. and this system is very fast, My memory still runs 400mhz as reported by the bios which actualy confuses me a little as I thought PC-3200 running single channel should be 200. I've 2 sticks of 512 and the bios boots saying memory is at 400mhz.

I should mention basel that as of last night I fixed my problem and perhaps it could be the same thing on your machine so here's what I did.

Went into bios and changed PCI Latency Timer. I was told default was 32 so to change it to 64 or higher but when I checked mine was set to 64 so I set it to 32 and the jerking pretty much stopped.

PC3200 = 200MHz --> DDR = 400MHz
Dual Channel just means ur operating in 128bit mode (i.e.., dual 64bit memory controllers)

got ya :-).. anyhow yup it's ddr ram in my machine but as we know the 64 chips that I and basel are sporting only read from a single channel as you said already :-).

hmmmmm, I seem to remember somthing about punkbuster and quake3 where there was a fix, I'm trying to remember what that was! darn it. You mention punkbuster games so is it OK for me to assume it works fine with games that dont instal PB? also are you playing these online? Offline?

Yeah without punkbuster the card works fine. I can put punkbuster of in my own server and then i dont have probs

Where can i find the PCI latency timer, i checked it but i cant find it :(

try any of these?

Problem does not occur on non-PB servers
This problem seems specific to WinXP - this does not happen on Win2k
Removal of the Nvidia GART Driver clears this problem up
Reverting to ATI's 3.9 seems to clear this up for some people
Reducing the AGP aperture size reduces the amount of delay
Decreasing the PB scan frequency with pb_sleep decreases the frequency of the freezes
Changing from an ATI to Nvidia card seems to have eliminated problems for many users

Problem solved i deleted one of the nvidia drivers, i dont have AGP on, but it work for e. Shitty is that my frames are gone, i had 500 fps with agp and now 125 +/-

But thanks anyhow.

BTW does anybody know if ati is working on this problem between X800 and nforce mobo's?
