ATI stability test

Is there a program that can test the stability and health of my ATI x600? I can no longer play HL2 games. 3DMark06 crashes when ever I run it. I have had the card for over 3 years. I don't know why it would die. It works fine on non 3D apps thos.

Have you checked the heatsink for dust? it could be overheating.

Download Speedfan or PCWizard and check all your temps, it's not necessarily your Graphics card.

ATITool is perfect. It has a lot of features and shows the temp of the GPU in the system tray. Pretty handy.

neither of those apps could give me video card fan/temp info. with ati tool i could over clock it no problem.

I have turned down all the video settings and the game has become more stable, BUT still crashes.

What I don't understand is how the 3D part of the video card fails but non 3D functions work fine.

3D graphics is what stresses the GPU most. 2D games probably wouldn't cause overheating, though I wouldn't know...
