ATI vs Nvidia

hey just a general question

why do all the ATI Graphics chips have MANY more steam processors? at pretty much the same core clock that nvidia has? y is this and does it affect their Gpu's performance greatly? also if it has so many more stream processors how is Nvidia still comparable to ATI's GPU's?

A simple way of putting it is. Nvidia and ATI both have blocks of stream processors but use them different. In Nvidia all blocks can run all or the same codes as needed. ATI blocks run different codes each.

Look at like a quad core processor. One quad, each core can run any code or all run the same. The other quad core each core is setup to run a different code.
