i have the ati x1900xt. is the x1900xtx a whole lot better. i kno it has 512 and mine only has 256 but where do u see the difference in a game? thanks

Well it's an increas in overall performance really, it just allows the gpu to not be bottled-necked by a lack of memory.

yes there is a performance increase, but it's not worth the extra price, as the xtx just has higher clocks, (and more memory, but most xt's also has 512mb).

If your comparing the 512MB version of the XT and XTX, there isnt much difference at all. With the 256MB and 512MB, it depends on the game and how high the resolution is.

Totally not worth the extra money to get an X1900XTX. If you are so worried about performance, just try overclocking your card to X1900XTX speeds.

One (and only) think I like about eVGA with nVidia cards - trade up program. Buy a 7600GT, 2 weeks later you buy a nice 20.1" Samsung LCD and find that playing 1680x1050 is too much for it in BF2...you just trade up to the 7900GT or something like that, and you're good to go.

like its said,.. its not worth upgrading from an XT to and xtx. and Imo, the 512Mb cards are only worth it if you overclock them, on stock, 256 is really enough, since the difference then is about 3 - 4%

What does the amount of video RAM have to do with overclocking? Having 512MB of video memory is extremely helpful if you play games on ultra high settings at high resolutions.

yea.. but on stock the GPU isnt really strong enough to play everything maxed out at real extreme resolutions..

for now,.. yes.. but so can the 256Mb version... later on, not anymore, and the 512 Mb version overclocked would last a bit longer for high settings. I mean.. when you buy a grafic's card.. do you plan for only use it till the next high end card is released? or do you plan on keeping it a bit longer?

You can easily see here, that the x1900XT/X is fully capable of playing the latest games on high settings, upwards of 1600x1200.

I don't really get what your saying, but having 512MB of memory on todays cards is starting to become recommended, especially with the release of Vista.

well i put my xt on ebay already so i can get the xtx or something better. ill get more than what i bought it for and only have to pitch in like 50 buck for the xt with 512MB. i thought about getting nvidia but i can seem to find one with the vivo so i can have svideo for my tv (thats not hella expensive) is the 7900 better?

7900GT is not better than X1900XT.

If you want, you can go with 7950GX2 the best card on the market. I think it cost about $450
