ati's new Nvidia killer? :P 4870/RV770

hi i thought i might make a thread about the new up cumming (maybe delayed again lol) ati cards

i think the one im gonna buy is called the RV770 if not its called the 4870

atm i am going to buy ati as Nvidia might not be getting the new Nehalm (sorry not sure how it is spelt) socket so thats another reason i prob will go with ati with a intell cpu

atm the 4870 is coming out on the 23rd of june (not long to go!)

yes they are but lintel are not selling the socket to Nvidia i read on a few sites and forums
so ATI will get the step up on Nvidia if they do not sell them the socket

It's Intel, not Lintel.

And you are really not making sense - your jumping from CPU's to GPU's.

i read on a few forums that the new Nvidia card (280) will be prices at $900 :O :O :O :O :O

and the ATI 4870 will be prices around $300 :D

i think if the 4870 is better or close to the 280 Nvidia will drop there prices if not Nvidia will prob not drop the prices
so its good news for Nvidia fans if the new ati 4870 cards are nearly as good as the 280 as it will save you a bit of money

hope this helps with any 1 wanting to buy the cards to know how much to save up

here is a link to the stats of the 4870 and the 4850 and the pricing

http://techreport.com/discussions.x/14609 i dunno if it is reliable or not but it is somthing

thats gonna be like the 280GX2 that would come close to costing that much, but i think it still might be a longshot. either way my next card will probably be a 4870 if i can crossfire them on this board.

they have decided to launch them selves a new website

http://www.unleashonetera.com/

looks cool lol i like the look of it

Before AMD is going to launch its highly anticipated RV770XT and PRO cards branded as Radeon HD 4870 and Radeon HD4850 it decided to launch a website.

The website is called unleashonetera which translates to Unleash One Tera( TeraFlop) and this is the power of the weaker RV770PRO chip. The faster one RV770XT will be able to do 1.2 TeraFlop and as the website claims both are DirectX 10.1, 55nm and GDDR5.

The said thing is that Nvidia doesn’t have any of these three technologies in any of its superior GPUs. And if you pay attention, ATI is using the same logo that we are using for our articles for a while.

Priced for gamers sounds like affordable to use and designed by gamers is a pure market as this chip is designed to use as little transistors as possible, runs fastest and be the cheapest thing around. The name of the game is profit.

If nvidia isn't 'getting the socket' (which I doubt) it will be for their chipset division not GPU. You can still use whatever brand video card you want as long as your motherboard has the right interface (ie pice/pci/agp)

yeah from what i've been reading the gtx280 is smashing the crap out the 4870 in closed door tests and even gtx260 beats the 4870 by a substantial margin. this shouldnt be a surprise as the 48xx series is a response to the 9xxx series and blows those out of the water by about 20%. as for the price, it could be anywhere from $500 to $700 but give it a couple months and theyll drop. for now its all speculation. only 5 more days... i'm practically giddy

Are you serious, were have you been?

I guess you haven't seen the information on these new ATI cards.

please be aware there are loads( from what i ahve seen on abiout 20 websites) of bench marks out there atm that are fake

but by the stats of the 4870 they look amazing!

ati seem to be keeping the 4870 hidden well

but there are benchmarks on the 4850

the 4850 will be priced at $230 ( i think its the rv770XT)
the 4870 will be price at $330
the GTX 260 will be prices at $400
sorry my source didn't have the GTX 280 price

price of the 8800GTX form new egg is $244 so yea the 4850 will be cheaper but still very closely prices as a cheaper GTX costs $210 so very closely priced

Is the HD4850 coming out June 18th, and the HD4870 is coming out June 23rd? I read that on a site but I don't know if it is legit or not.
