ATX cable slips out

I'm having a hard time connecting the 24pin ATX cable into the socket of the mobo. It always likes to slip out, and to make sure that it stays in, I have to push hard on it. Is there a way to get this thing to stay in without a hassle? Would taping the cable to the socket be safe? If so, what kind of tape should I use?
 
I guess it broke while I was moving. Before the move, the cable fit perfectly, no problems. Then I put it in a box, and I guess it broke when I moved it from one house to the other.
 
When you push it in firmly, do the clips kick in?

Make sure its All the way in?

Tape Should be fine. Dodgy, But Fine.

Extreme case, buy a new power supply.

I always like too have spares anyway.
 
Well, the tape wasn't really effective. It would still slip out even with duct tape in there. So I removed the tape, and in order to get it in all the way, I have to push really hard. Guess I'll just have to buy a new power supply.

But I have another problem. My computer won't start. The green light on the motherboard is on, meaning that the power supply is supplying power to the motherboard, but it doesn't start. I press the power button, but nothing happens. Motherboard problem?
 
I constantly move my case around, for LAN parties. But if you had movers move it in a box, it may have broke.
But I dont see how the ATX clip broke, while moving it.

Hi Titanium,

For your first problem. Normally you have some converters that you can put on your ATX cable. I suggest you buy one of those, and replace it. But you have also modding kits, where you can put some UV-active wires around your cables, and they normally give you an other ATX plastic(or what ever you call it) with it.

For your second problem. It's better to open an other topic, but that will the admin decide. Noramlly... your motherboard is broke. I am not sure, but that will be my first reaction, if I had saw that happening.

I posted a new thread regarding my motherboard problem. I found a converter on newegg that converts 20 pin to 24 pin. I think I'll try one of those and see how it works out.
