Audio Ports

Please can someone tell me how can I change audio ports (example: I put mic in speakers port and it will use it as a mic) :/

I don't think it can be done. Audio out (speakers) is just that, an output. Mic is an input. I don't think the ports can be reversed. But someone else may know more about it.

Is there any reason why you want to do that?

Apparently with the newest Realtek HD audio manager you can do "Connector Retasking", which is what you're looking for.

I think you can download it here:
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?langid=1&pfid=24&level=4&conn=3&downtypeid=3

and additional information you can find here:

and here:

Grtz!

Thanks, though for me it doesn't work :D

Reason is that my output is broken and laptop "thinks" that another speaker in on so laptop's original speakers are off :(

ah, okay. I will look into it a little farther and try to help you.

Just a couple of questions though. Have you updated the drivers? That could help, and have you tried using some compressed air to clean it out? And have you tried restarting the computer? The one time my lappy did that a restart did it, but my problem was that I unplugged the headphones when it was hibernated and I guess on resume it did not register.

edit: found some hits on google. http://askubuntu.com/questions/27804/using-microphone-input-port-as-headphone-output has some info. Still looking though.
