my brother wants me to build him a computer that he can record music on and play games for about $1700 canadian. Any ideas?
I thought so. If he's just recording the sound, your not going to need that hefty of a processor. A Pentium 4 will be fine, and you may want to look at the sound card I posted, which includes RCA inputs, which may be easier for you. However if you want to do audio editing, you may want to look at the Pentium D 930, which is a terrific value for a dual-core. Im thinking that $1700 is a bit much for what your using it for, since you dont require a large LCD monitor or a high end video card. I will through together a system that will be appropriate for your uses.spider5000_1 said:he wants to record his band in our basement pretty much but are there any specific builds that will be good for both under $1700 canadian?
I wouldnt go with the Fatal1ty, since it wouldnt have any benifits for him over the Platinum. If you want to go the X-Fi route, I would get an X-Fi Platinum or X-Fi Elite.baballin328 said:
