My 12 year old daughter wants a program that will store and edit voice audio from her cell phone.

What free program out there allows you to record and edit audio only?

Well, it depends in which format the cell phone saves the voice audio. Many programs can't open some of the formats, but many phones give you an option as to what format to save it in.
If she saves them as .wav or .mp3 then any program can open them. Just let us know what format options you have for voice recording on the phone.

In any case, the absolute number 1 free program that just about everyone will recommend is Audacity (link here). It is awesome and enables you to do a lot with audio. It is well known and 100% free.

Note, that to save files as .mp3, you will need the LAME encoder. Audacity is not allowed to include it in the install, so you have to download it separately and just paste the file into the appropriate Audacity folder. Audacity will tell you how to do that the first time you try to save something as an mp3.
