Auto start of explorer

OK could anyone help with my problem, when I connect to the internet "Internet Explorer" automaticaly opens. This gets vary anoying could anyone please tell me if and how I can stop this especialy as I use firefox. This is only relevent info I can think of ; - I have a 2.2mb broadband connection with BT, I connect via the desktop symbol connect to BT broadband, we dont have a router just 4 modems (1 for each computer and change cables around lol). Any help would be appritiated. cheers if you can :) .
 
Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Set Program Access and Defaults, button on the left hand side. You can change your default setting of IE to FireFox.
 
cheers dunno if it will change it when I run connect to internet and I would have prefered it without anything popping up when I connect but thnks all the same that was usefu8ll to know
 
i would recomend a router... they are like $30.. You wont have to login anymore (router does it all, and keeps the connection) and you wont have to switch the cables (which by far increases the chance of something breaking)
 
yeah I know, but me dad was getting paranoid about radio signals going through our head, which is total crap. Also routers in the UK are alot more expensive than that, or the ones I seen are. Finaly it anoying cos we only need the main bit of router not the recievers, cos I got a built in network card to my PC, My sister has one in her laptop, and well me dads PC could have the router connected. (the other 2 dont go on net). And yer, stupid explorer still comes up hehe. nvm I gues I will have to put up with it till I gte my dad to geta router.
 
Im afraid that did not provide any answers, aslo the things they suggested I dont have in me menue cos I think im running a newer version, ta anyway.
