I currently want this primarily for Skyrim, but I would like it to be flexible enough for other purposes.
In Skyrim, there's a lot of stuff you can do that require tedious reptition of the same keystrokes and mouse clicks.
- Constantly chopping firewood (even if you use a follower, you still have to sit there and press the E key every 35 seconds).
- Transmuting large amounts of ore. If you have only 100 magicka, you also have to wait an hour in between casts before you can cast again.
- Stand in front of the forge with 2,486 iron ingots and 2,486 leather strips, and press the E key 2,486 times to get 100 smithing from iron daggers alone.
I was wondering if there was some software out there that let me assign certain patterns to be repeated automatically.
For example, for the wood chopping process, I could set the following pattern:
1. Press "E" key.
2. Wait 35 seconds.
3. Repeat from Step 1.
I could then set it to repeat, either for a certain number of cycles, or a certain amount of time. So, if I'm going to bed soon, I could set it to cycle for eight hours, and have a ton of wood when I return.
Or, I could simply set it to continue indefinitely, until there's some manual keyboard or mouse input.
I could also set it so that, when I activate the process, it could have a delay of a certain length of time, giving me enough time to launch the game and set up the scenario to be repeated. So, for the wood-chopping scenario, I would have to launch the game, load a save where I was standing with a follower (who has a woodcutter's axe ready) in front of a chopping block, then talk to that follower, tell them "I need you to do something," and then hover my cursor over the wood chopping block. After that, the automated process can take over.
Alternatively, if there's some sort of USB accessory - such as an external numerical keypad - that I could hotkey these patterns to, then I wouldn't need the programmed delay, as I could activate the pattern from inside the game!
Here's an idea of how to use this software that isn't about gaming:
Imagine, every second that the software is active, it takes a screenshot, and uses Windows Mail to send an email - with that screenshot attached - to a yahoo email address that I specify, before deleting the corresponding sent item. This email address would be one that I almost never use, created specifically for purposes of receiving these screenshots. Yahoo offers unlimited storage, and since each screenshot would be under 25MB, the attachments would pass Yahoo's automatic file size limit.
Then, start a new instance of that process every 1 second.
Keeping the screenshots in that email address would effectively give me some makeshift keylogger software, so I can have a record of everything I do.
Does this sort of program even exist?
