Automatic System Shutdown Error

Having some problems with my dads computer, recently upon bootup it comes up with an error message which reads something like this.

Automatic Shutdown iniatiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM

it comments on the file being at issue being lsass.exe and gives an error code 1073741819.

I've googled the problem and it suggested a sasser or blaster virus, so I have installed Kaspersky on the system, given a full scan and come up with nothing, I have also used symnatecs specific removal tools for both virus' and again nothing is found.

I have run all windows updates and its currently running XP with Service Pack 3 on it.

Now on bootup it gives the same message with an automated countdown timer but now the comment is about an error with the DCOM served process launcher.

Any ideas where the issue might be? i've tried all sorts of scanning, hunting and such but to no avail, hijack this log is also attached

Oh boy. Unfortunately your boot sector has been corrupted. The .32 files are the OS kernels and are critical. Try reinstalling ur OS. If that doesn't work try wiping ur drive and then reinstalling ur OS. If that doesn't work then buy a new HDD and install ur OS on that. If THAT doesn't work you will need to buy a new computer I am afraid.
 
if its corrupted the OS kernels then there should be no reasons to buy a new computer, only the hard drive will have been infected by it. I was planning to do a fresh install as a last resort so hoping I can get a few opinions before going through all that :)
 
I know that, but I was just saying if a clean re-install or a new hard drive doesn't solve the problem then I can only imagine that a new computer will solve the problem.
