AVAST, AVG, and Malwarebytes

Which to go with, AVG or AVAST (Both Free versions)? Will either be enough to protect my computer if i also get malwarebytes and scan every other day?

What does the AVG and AVAST free versions protect against? What covers protecting against spyware?

Also, was considering the paid version of AVG, what do you guys think?

An antivirus alone won't stop most of todays infections. I run AVG and love it but most others say Avast. It's your own personal preference. But as far as a malware scanner like Malwarebytes or Superantispyware, if you want an active scanner to actually stop malware from entering your system then you would have to pay for it, malwarebytes is $24.99 and superantispyware is $29.95.

i would not run two anti virus programs on one computer because sometimes they can cause confliction with each other, and as john said, its users preference which anti virus they go for. ;)

I don't use anything.

If you don't download and install programs that you do not trust and you don't fool around on sites that may try to exploit your browser, then you never have to worry about getting a virus. :D

I recommend AVG Free to clients, as well as Malwarebyte's anti-malware. CCleaner is also a handy tool for removing unwanted registry entries and the like, but doesn't really have anything to do with protecting your computer.

But the only way to truly keep a computer from viruses/malware is to have the correct administrative options in place (for a multi-user computer), or, as I tell my friends very blatantly, "don't download dumb sh!t."

Cheers. ;)

Avast + Malwarebytes, can't go wrong with this combo. I have gone through a lot of infected sites but haven't had any log in credentials stolen from me, yet. I have used this combo for over 3 years and they have not failed me. I have heard that Avira has a higher detection rate when compare to avast. I guess it's just a matter of personal preference.

In the end like johnb35 said, not one program catches all of them. So you just go w/ what interface you like most. I preferred AVG. And then I threw on Malwarebytes and haven't had an issue in years. I also used CCleaner to help keep things running smoothly.
