Avast?

Hi
I installed the 'free' version of Avast antivirus software on my pc last year - it expires in a month. I keep getting 'Upgrade' notices and the suggested Avast is not free - it's reasonable though = $25 for a years coverage. I am happy with the free version though. Is there an indefinate free version of Avast out there - or should I just go back to my service provider's (Shaw) free software which is huge and does slow my pc down a little?

If I ignore the Avast warning about expiration - will they not cover me with the free version any longer??

I use the free version and I do not get any upgrade messages. Did you take the free upgrade to the pay version when you installed it or did you stay with the true free version?

It is free, you just have to reregister it every year. It will tell.you on the main page that it needs to be reregistered.

Thanks for the replys guys - I will reregister

John - on the other note of my Windows maybe about to crash.
It seems to be working okay now. We are going to downsize and get a new pc anyway soon and I have all my valuable info saved onto external harddrives.

I'm having some trouble saving messages from my Outlook Express to a folder in the external harddrive. I keep getting Map1 errors when I click to export.
I will keep plugging away at it.
Do you know what the Map1 Error is and how I can get by it??
