Whats the average biffer size for a HD. is 8MB's good? They have a great deal at frys, after rebates its 40$, for a 160GB 72000RPM 8MB buffer, and the same thing thats 10000RPM for 60$ after rebates. I'll prabally go the for 10000 but I wanted to make sure thats a good buffer size. I ahvn;t gotten a harddrive is a long long time. and then i just got something random becuase i didn;t konw anything about PC's.

BTW, this is at Frys Electronics in socal.

is mb is like the standard right now. of course there still are 2mb floating around.

8mb is good enough but for a larger drive i will go with 16mb.

Hey

Certainly avoid the 2MB versions of HDDs. The performance increase of an 8MB over a 2MB is pretty significant. Just invest into a good 8MB one and you will be safe.

JAN :D

the thingis though i hate rebates especially after waiting so long and to find out they didnt receive it or there is missing info;

Yeah, fortunately I did mine right last year with a 200GB 8MB 7200RPM and got the rebate back and got the price down to $90!

hmmm... theres deals for 250gb for 99 without rebates i would rather have that since i takes extra long for me to get my rebate, i'd say in 10 rebates i only get like 2 send back.

i was fortunate to catch that deal and bought 4x250 which lasted me quite a good 1 month.

Although say, if u use the drive as an archive drive ... getting a 2MB drive isnt gonna hurt
