Average Phenom Overclock

I have a 9150 1.8Ghz stock. I have a pretty good mother board but some cheap nanya memory, pretty crappy power supply, and a $8.99 heat sink. I currently have the thing running at 2403Mhz. Temps are 41- 43 degrees. This just seems very odd to me. I couldn't get my AMD64 3800+ to go anywhere near that with better everything.

Really depends on the motherboard and RAM. When I switch from my Asus M2N-SLI to a M3N-HT I was able to overclock another 200Mhz at least. It really depends on if you got a good chip and the power design on the motherboard.

Also, better RAM allows for better overclocking. Because when you overclock a CPU, you're also overclocking the RAM.

Finally, a cheap PSU will have a hard time meeting the demand of an overclocked CPU. Because when you overclock you use more power. Especially when you bump up the voltage.

I would say you have a pretty good chip if you can get a 600Mhz overclock. I have to struggle to get to 3.3GHz with my 9950.

Wasn't stable, had to back it off a bit. I am getting some better junk though and see how high I can take it. I was actually going to sell this chip but now I think I may keep it.

You would get more help if you listed your parts/specs.

I myself found it easier to keep my ram 1:1 on my Q6600 to get 3.2ghz...was more stable and allowed a 800mhz increase.
I dunno if Phenom is the same but if it is it might help.
