AVG causes problem in Windows

I installed AVG free Anti-virus on two computers: one with Windows XP Pro and the other with Windows XP Home.

On the Pro computer, after I installed AVG and restarted the computer, instead of the normal blue logon screen, I got the window where you have to type your name and password. I typed both, but once I logged on, it started logging off again, without even showing the desktop or taskbar.

On the Home computer, the logon screen stayed the same after I rebooted from installing AVG, but when the computer turned on, about 5 seconds later, it turned off again.

After I uninstalled AVG on both of the computers, they returned to normal. Thanks.

I just remembered, after the Win XP Home computer was reformatted, installing AVG worked without any problems. Does Spybot S&D cause any problems?

I have xp home and use AVG free plus spybot with no problems. Might this be a corrupt version of AVG? Did you download it by following links from the Grisoft site?

I downloaded it correctly. In fact, one time, it only caused problems when it updated to the next version. Maybe it was some other software confilct?
