I currently have Avast, but I'm not crazy about the interface. Is either of these better than the other? or is there any better free ones?

I've only used AVG and I'm pleased with it. I know some people HATE Avast, but never using it myself, I can't really compare. AVG does fine for me, so why change?

avast if good if you are lazy just set it to auto update and if will check whenver you bootup the computer or intervals.

I've used both and didn't find much difference in their performance.

There's a new kid on the block though recently released.

Have a look at AOL Active Virus Shield which is basically Kaspersky Anti-Virus with a few features disabled. What's more, it's free. No other free anti-virus software comes close for detection and removal capabilities!!

but... its from AOL...

Here's the never ending debate, both are good. I wouldn't say one was better than another to be honest.

I use AVG, but that doesn't mean that it is better, I only use it because, in my opinion, I find it better. :)

I think Avast! is better as it is the one i use, and i tried AVG and found Avast! better, make a poll dude, that'll get ya answer :)

I was using AVG for a long time but then switched to Avast and i must admit its much better.

I tried antivir on Vista but dont like it.

AVG is pretty good, but Avast is pretty good too, but then again Antivir works good too, but AVG is good and so is Avast and Antivir but so is AVG. Kinda see where this is going;)
