Avi to DVD freeware?

Drunkship

Alright, so I just got a DVD burner for the first time and I'm a little confused. I have a bunch of AVI video files on my PC and I don't know how to go about burning them to a DVD.

Any programs or special ways to go about doing this? I already have Nero.

Thanks,
Bill

don't think Nero will help, you need to convert them first. I use this
www.tmpgenc.net/
and i also use Imtoo MPEG encoder
it's not free, but then again google can help you find a lot a freeware's
but thats the main 2 programs i use, they get the job done

There are two ways you can go about burning them to a DVD. The fastest and easiest way is to burn the .avi files to the DVD as data, although it wont work in most DVD players.

The other option you have is to encode them as DVD video, so you can watch them like a regular DVD on most DVD players, and you can have menus as well.

Nero does have an encoding program, I used that quite often when I authored home movies from my PC, although on my old P4 it took up to 8 hours per disc.
