Back-Up Drives?

What are they used for? and why are they so costly?

Depends on what you mean by backup drives. Usually you just backup to another hard drive. Can you give us a link to what you are talking about?

this page contains the list and cost of back up drives, they are way too costly than normal drives, I also see they have Buffer memory, what is used for?

Those are tape backup drives, old and outdated and thats why they cost so much. Nobody uses tape backup anymore.
