I apologize if ive posted in the wrong area, can anyone help in advising how i back my pc up i have lost stuff twice now all because i dont know where to start in backing up my system. my OS is windows xp media centre yes i know its old but i like it and not got the money for all the upgrades at the mo, so please if anyone can help or advise i will be eternally grateful Angel
 
Depends on what you mean by backup. You can backup only your documents and personal data to a cd or external hard drive. Or you can buy a program called Acronis true image and it will create an image of your hard drive and store either on an external drive or a different partition on the internal hard drive, but using a different drive then the original is always best in case the drive totally dies.

Acronis will make an image of your drive including OS, programs, personal data. So in case your original drive dies, you boot to the recovery cd that you would need to make in acronis and restore the image you made and you can be back up and running within minutes of restoring the image.

Thanks i should have made it more clear i meant back up windows, everything if you know what i mean i will have a look for this Acronis thanks
