i got a Fantom Drives Titanium-II 200GB USB 2.0 7200rpm External Hard Drive, from Buy.com because of the price(79.99 free s&h!).

I just brought a external hard drive to back-up my data, i've never done anything like that before, and i need some help. how can reformat it FAT32 to NTFS, whats partition, and how many do i need? stuff like that.

You only need 1 partition. If the drive came formated you can simply open a command window (start->run cmd) then type "convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs"

Replace drive_letter with the letter assigned to the drive by windows, you need to have the : after the drive letter.

If the drive is not formated you can use the computer management console: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000

If you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

:P yes like crome said, one , unless you want to put another partition to put something else there, but that is probably not needed. use the web crome said above good luck :P
