Backup Drive

I have just done a complete backup of my computor and saved it to a external backup drive. I used a program called Max blaster which creates a image. Is there any way that i can open the programs saved on the backup drive from the backup drive. As i copyped the hole c: drive why wont they open in d: drive(backup drive)

The reason is most likely because of an issue with the registry and with associations. When you had the programs installed on the primary C: drive, bits of information was stored in the registry which associated a program with it's directory.

So when you tried to launch an application from the identical D: drive, it was looking for the other files which would have been stored on the C: drive. However because both hard drives were on the same PC and you were currently using the C: drive, then you still should have been able to launch the programs from the D: drive, as long as they are still installed on the C: drive as well.

backup

I still have the original programs on c: drive. Is there another way to make a backup of programs that will run on my backup drive. Is it possible to copy all the files that are needed. THANK HEAPS FOR THE REPLIES

All the files were copied over, it's because when programs were installed on the C: drive, all the shortcuts and links to other files were set using the C: drive, so it will most likely look on the C: drive for any file that is needed which isn't in the program folder.

I don't know of a way which you can make sure all the programs will work on the D: drive though, sorry.
