Backup

If I format my drive now, is there a program that will backup (before the formating of course) and allow me to restore the drive at exactly the state it was in before (all settings and all exactly the same and working)?

You can use something like Acronis or Norton Ghost, but if you're planning to backup the entire drive and resetting back to the way it was, why are you formatting it anyways? I would just back up my documents, pics, and media files and then wipe it all out.

As laptopextreme said, a program like Norton Ghost will make an image of your hard drive and everything on it, but if you reformat then anything that you were hoping would happen, wouldnt. I recommend backing up your documents and stuff and then reformat.

If I reformat and thing's go wrong after with Windows and stuff, I would like a possibility to revert to the same state as it was before the formatting.

if you reformat and reinstall windows, nothing should go wrong. But if you are afraid that may happen, then make an image of your hard drive and put it on a cd/dvd, then you can boot from that and revert to what you had before.

Using Acronis, I made a backup of each of my partitions. If something goes wrong, can I just copy the files back from the backup to the disk?

I have 2 HDDs, one with 2 partitions, C and G (Windows is on C) and another with 2 partitions, H and J. I made a copy of C and G using Acronis on J, and will only format C to install windows.
