Bad Company 2 Multiplayer - Very Small Rant and a Question lol

Hi All

Um I know this is old news lol but Ive recently started playing Bad Company 2 online multiplayer and I have a few questions...

But firstly the rant lol:
Why is it that I have to unlock weapons and stuff? This seems like the most stupidest thing I have ever heard? It just seems stupid that the so called "better" players get better weapons that the new players? How is that fair or even? It just means that new players regardless of skill get owned by more "experienced" players cause of the poor weapon choice... It just compounds the ownage to be honest... Not only are new players trying to get used to the mechanics of the game, getting used to the maps and trying to learn but on top of that the old players get a massive weapon advantage as well... That just seems stupid...

Now Im a player from CS days of old... Though havent really kept up with online FPS multiplayer though I was decent at CS back in the day (not awesome, but decent I could usually hold my own quite well on the net) and anyway the CS system seems better to me... Where each round you start with limited means and then by performing well you get better weapons for that round... But you all start evenly thats the point here...

Bad Company 2 seems ridiculous... So bad in fact that me and my mate have decided to just use one account as it takes so long to level up and unlock stuff... Ive played I dont know like 5 or 6 hours on the weekend and I still havent unlocked a bloody red dot sight (or reflect sight or whatever the game calls it)...

So whats the deal with all this? Lol end rant...

Now the question (which might turn into a rant)

Is there any sniper rifle that can kill someone one shot? I have unlocked two now (so I have three, the first one, then a semi auto one and now another bolt action) but all three require at least two shots to kill someone? So Im wondering is there any realistic sniper rifle? Whats the point of being a sniper if you cant kill anyone?

All in all Im liking the game... Seems to be a good mix of run and gun with more tactical play... I played COD a bit but found that was way to run and gun for my liking (I still fondly remember CS 1.x days where if you shot first you killed first instead of players taking numerous hits and still being alive lol)... So Im liking BC2 dispite the above... Just would love some opinions on the matter...

Cheers

I just started playing and I play as a sniper. Go into a hardcore match and use the first sniper rifle that they give you. It is plenty powerful. If you like playing in regular, you have to go for headshots. That is really the only way to get kills in BC2. I'm not to keen on how TDM is in BC2 but playing conquest matches keeps people moving.

Just what I have picked up so far. I'm only level 3 or so.

Whats the difference between regular and hardcore? Is it just damage taken? I swear Ive even headshoted a few dudes with the sniper with no kill... Could be wrong though, but hell even a torso shot with a sniper rifle should down someone...

Hardcore has more damage taken, no radar (I think) and friendly fire. I agree that a torso shot with a sniper rifle in real life would kill you. Or at least take you down but it's a game and there would be balance issues if you let sniper rifles be that powerful.

It seems to be a new trend in video games. It keeps a game interesting for longer.

Weapons don't really get better. They're different. I still use some of the stock guns and I'm level 30 something.

There's no sniper rifle in the game that can one hit non-headshot kill in the regular game mode. It's not realistic but it keeps the game more balanced. Sniping is a lot harder in bad company compared to CSS and COD games. There's also bullet drop and bullet lag.

It does take a while to unlock new items, but it can be done quite easily by playing as the medic. Once you get the med kit and defibrillator pads you can gain points quickly by being a team player. At first you'll only get weapons that the medic class can use, but you will eventually get weapons available to all classes as well as items that all classes can use. Remember to spot enemies as much as possible. Not only will it make it easier for you to keep track of your enemies, but you will also get points, if someone else kills them.

A lot of experienced players still use the weapons you start out with. The M24 sniper rifle is very popular because it has a good sight and you can reload it faster than the M95. And I've seen high level players use the AEK-971 quite often as well.

The only ways you can kill with one shot from a sniper rifle are to hit the head, play in hardcore mode or be within a certain distance from your target (that distance is different for every weapon and can be increased by using the magnum ammo perk).

The recon class is a good CQC class once you unlock weapons that aren't sniper rifles.

All the weapons in the game are pretty lethal. Also you can grab weapons off the ground to experiment, get more ammo, or just get an upgraded gun.

Don't worry about leveling. Just play it and learn the maps. I have to sort of get in the zone with BC2. If I don't I'll die over and over again. I have to slow down and take it easy then I'll have at least a positive kill ratio.

Try to remember that K/D isn't the most important thing in this game. You can be the best player in the round with a K/D way below 1.0. How? By capturing points, blowing up MCOMs, spotting enemies, giving your teammates ammo or medic kits, reviving them and using motion sensors (don't throw them all at once, only one can be active at a time). If you help a squad member by doing those things you'll get even more points.

Example:
At the end of one match of rush I noticed that one guy on our team was the second best on our team with around 3000 points. His K/D was 0.125 (3/24). How did he get those points? He played as a medic and due to his efforts, his squad could keep moving forward in order to take out those MCOMs. He got killed a lot because he was a medic and medics are very often the primary target.

I agree with the OP. The sniper you get is rubbish and yes, even in HC it takes more than one shot. The level up is slow and the crappy weapons are limiting.

Many are simply waiting to buy BF3 and start at the same time.
