Bad motherboard?

When I turn the computer on, it is repeatedly restarting, each restart lasting for a 1/4 of a second. This happened after I Winflashed the bios with a more recent version, and restarted it. The front orange light began flashing, nothing on monitor, so turned off at Power Switch, then turned it all on, same happened again. Is there something I can try before sending it back? This is quite annyoing, as the computer is barely a few days old.

I know it's the motherboard, as the same thing happened to a friend, who was told by a technician that she needed a new mobo.

I've reset the bios, and tried booting in safe mode; nada, nothing, same as before.

Something I should add, what happeneing here isnt quite the same as what happened to my friend. Her's would reboot every second, so it would actually begin booting. Mind doesn begin booting up at all.

Yup. I'll send it back tomorrow if it's not fixed, but this is more a last resort due to the time it'll take to get it back.

Just had a breakthrough. Seems that when I played with the jumper to reset the CMOS, it didn't work. I just left the battery out for a while, replaced, and now it works.

Any precautions I should take to stop this from happening again?
