I have a very wierd problem, I am using a DYNEX 4 port USB hub at my home, and when i tried to plug in a portable hard drive that i generally just use in my work laptop into it, and now now the hard drive no longer works, so at work today i put a new hard drive in the portable case and it worked fine on my laptop, so i bring it home again thinking that the other hard drive has just bad, and now the same thing, so i even went to my car brought in my laptop and it no longer worked there either, so i fried two hard drive by plugging them into the hub, and i tried transferring some files to my jump drive plugged into the hub and now that is shot too, has anyone ever heard of a hub causing all of these problems, and that has to be what it is, I would really appreciate some feedback, thanks

USB ports draw power, so if something isn't right inside a Hub (bad connector, made poorly), then yes, it could short out a hard drive. Are the two HDD's that are no longer working new? If you, you may be able to return them as defective. The same holds true for the Hub itself. Did it come with any sort of warranty against damage?

The danger with hubs (all USB, but more prevalent in Hubs) is the fact that it draws power. I distrust Hubs in general, and always plug directly into the Case or MoBo.
