Basic Computer Performance Question

I own a Dell Desktop, 1.9 GHz processor, 256 Mb SDRAM. I do a lot of video editing and have seen my performance slow down considerably since I bought the PC 3 years ago. Would a RAM upgrade be the best way to speed it back up?

Sorry if this is not enough info to help, just looking for a quick, inexpensive fix to boost performance a little.

Thanks in advance...

Ray

a RAM upgrade will definately help.
( preferably upgrade to 1024Mb, that really makes a difference)

i had 1Gb of SD RAM in my previous pc,.. and its still running everything. ( even bf2 on med settings :) )

You might ask yourself, what RAM, exactly, do I have in my computer? How big of RAM is there available? Will the RAM in the Dell be fully compatible with no problems?
http://www.crucial.com/ Click the "Scan My System" and run it. :)
