Basic games?

I'm building my parent's a computer for Christmas, and I thought it would be nice to upload some very basic games for them. Nothing fancy. Just some cool puzzle/card/trivia type things to keep them entertained. Maybe even up to those $5-$10 games you see at target sometimes. Those mystery type looking games (sorry, never played any of these...)

Can you suggest any cool mini game bundles I should purchase?

And this may be a silly question, but generally speaking, those types of games run fine without a dedicated GPU, correct? I didn't add a video card because this is very much *not* a gaming machine. But like I said, I thought a few small games would be nice.

Thanks. :)

PySol fanclub edition.

It's called a "solitaire game collection", but it's got tons of card games and even mahjongg (is that how you spell it?). It's free, but not particularly pretty, though - doesn't have quite the same level of eye candy that stock Windows card games do.

Great! Free is good. :-) I'll definitely look that one up. Any other good stuff out there? I'd like to create them a nice little games folder that is chock full of time-killers.

A little update. I ended up installing Linux on the machine. So to update the question a little, can you recommend any basic games that will run on Linux (Ubuntu)?

Oh, and the same things I'm looking for apply: puzzle/card/trivia, bundles, mini-games. All small stuff. free is good, or cheap download stuff too. Thanks!

The fun thing about linux, just go to the application manager...thing, and you can look for games by whatever category you want, and most of them are free.

It is in the Ubuntu Software Centre. There are literally 1000+ games in there and 99.9% are free (I know there is a paid one in there somewhere, but I have yet to find it).

Also, If they like the old NES/SNES/Sega games, there are a couple of emulators in the software centre too. The ROMs are easy to find with google.

Great! Thanks, tremmor and wolfeking! I think the games found in these places will keep them plenty busy. :D
