Basic Overclocking question

Hey all,

First time overclocking a cpu (the intel i7 980x) one quick question.

When overclocking, you want to change the multiplier first then change voltage to gain sustainibility?

also, what is considered an "unsafe" temp for a cpu?

currently using the corsair h100 with a pushpull fan setup, i'm running my cpu @ 4.0 and my idle temps are 20ish and prime95 temps are around 62C.

thanks for the help!

yes to the multiplier first, voltage second.

an unsafe temp is anything over 70, so i wouldn't be going too far past that 4ghz, but also unless you are using them then i'm pretty sure disabling the hyper threading reduces heat.
