Battery Issue

I always keep my laptop (Dell Inspirion) plugged in so I don't run out of power while using it and to keep it fully charged. Now I'm getting a "replace the battery" message on my computer. Also, it takes about a half an hour for the computer to power up so that I can use it. I have had this laptop since 2009 and it has been slow for about 3 years. After I sent it to Dell (for a faulty fan) it has been very slow. Any ideas on what I should do, short of dropping it off a cliff?

I don't care what others say about this but I always recommend not to keep your laptop plugged in 24/7 as it will ruin the battery.

You can try a new battery other than that, not much you can do.
