Battery on the motherboard

I have a dell computer that is about 6 years old and when you turn it on the first thing it says is system battery low (something like that) and you have to hit a button to have it continue. I'm wondering if that battery is dead and it needs to be replaced, also how do you replace them. It's a desktop that doesn't get used often maybe once a week.

First you will need to look in the user manual to see what number battery will be needed and match that up at a store for a new replacement. The battery sits in a round holder on the board itself and usually simple to pop out of that.

The battery will look like a small silver coin being a Lithium type calculator/watch type found in the consumer electronics/watch dept. in most retail chains even Radio Shack. It would be a good idea to simply bring the old battery along with you to see the correct number matched up.
