Replacement Battery

this bloke lives really close to me and hes seeling this

according to him ist to do with the battery. i have a chaintech motherboard atm (7vjl apogee). now heres my question, if i ttook the battery out of my current motherboard and used it in the one hes selling, would that fix the problem

doubt it, theres probably a small short in the battery circuit somewhere
