Battlefield 2, maybe?

Okay, awhile ago I tried playing BF1942 on my computer. Everything worked fine except logging into multiplayer (pretty much the whole point of the game) The first time I played BF1942 and tried to join a server it said Wrong Version. I installed the latest patch which should have fixed the problem. Well...that didn't work. So I heard something about v 1.61. I installed that and now I either fail to connect to the server or my screen freezes when I try to join. I am just about to upgrade my video card and want to try out BF2. If I get BF2, is it highly likely I will get the same or similar results?

Thanks

It is really hard to say. Everything you mentioned sounds partially like a network issue. Are you wireless?

Chances are you will be fine with Battlefield 2, you are not really going to know for sure unless you try it.

What are you system specs? Include network equipment such as routers etc.

My internet equipment:
Comcast Cable Internet: 100mbps speed.
Motorola SB4220 SURFboard Cable Modem
I'm not so sure what brand the cable is, the worker from Comcast just popped it in when he installed my internet service.

I don't have wireless internet.

502MB RAM (supposed to be 512 MB but Dell either jipped me or some unknown program is using some of my RAM)
Windows XP Home
Intel Integrated Graphics

integrated graphics cards reserve some of the ram for video use thats why your seeing less then there really is

That is precisely it.

10MB integrated graphics?
Yea that is low. It prob. uses more for graphics as needed though. Trouble there is that your left with less system ram for other things. Also your video ram "prob." peaks at 64 which is low. I know Intel's chipsets has been implementing this method for awhile now.

Your system is on the low side for Ram, Graphics and I'm sure CPU (but you failed to list that ;) ) Errrrr so what is your cpu?

I can tell you, the game will not run all that great on your system.

as a comparison I use nvidia onboard which is about the best u can get for integrated(not that its good)and my max video ram is 128 and i play bf2 800x600 low settings with 40fps so yours is going to be pretty choppy

Your video is really poor for battlefield 2. You really need more memory to run this game decently also. Your CPU is OK but is also on the lower end of the P4's.

Yes I'm planning to upgrade my computer.

I will be getting this video card and at least 1GB of RAM. I know that I won't be able to run it now hehe, but after the upgrade I should be able to, right?

OOOHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I JUST GOT THAT ONE 2 DAYS AGO! Haven't used it yet but yeah you will be looking at max graphics and hi resolution with that.

Yes, most likely you will need a better power supply (I did) and you need PCI-E, if you have AGP it will not work. If you plan to get that and do not have PCI-E you would need to buy a new Motherboard and then most likely your CPU would not be compatible with the new motherboard then you'll need a new CPU and if you had DDR and the new motherboard needs DDR2 you will need new RAM and yes A new power supply to juice this thing....Yeah, That's what happened to me......

Hmm..a PSU seems hard to install. Is it hard? (I have never really done much upgrading with my computer, so I am new to this)

i just bought a new psu for a new gpu(maybe that one)and I found it very easy to install, just unscrew the old one after unplugging all the cables then screw in the new one make all the right connections and power on
