Battlefield 2

So I was wondering, does online BF2 still have many players? It looks like a VERY fun game, and doesn't require a high-end GFX Card.

I was also wondering. Can it run high on a 7300gt or a 8400gs?

Not sure about the card but the game is the 5th most played game on XFire. According to XFire there are 23,730 XFire users playing per day. So considering there are people that don't have this program, it is a very popular game. Very good game too. The ranking system makes the game insanely addictive.

Sorry to hijack ... but I have a similar question ... I was thinking of getting rFactor and Battlefield 2142, but someone said BF2 is much better =] Which XFire agrees with :p However is it worth me buying this [full version] over the [entry level] one? What extra content does it give, as the "included content titles" don't mean anything to me:
# Battlefield 2: Special Forces (Expansion Pack)
# Battlefield 2: Euro Force (Booster Pack)
# Battlefield 2: Armored Fury (Booster Pack)

i got Bf2 its good

all the noobs and hackers have gone to 2142 instead so theres lots of good servers (nearly 1000!)

GET THE PATCH. Its *HUGE* - dont play without the most recent patch - 1.41

An x600 will run it on medium
An x1600 will run it on high
An 8600 will run it on max

you dont need a gerat gfx card

my mates integrated 8400 runs it on high lol

As for the editions, there is the core bf2, special forces, then the booster packs. Booster packs like euro firce and armoured fury are a bit crap but SF is good. Play a whole round on SF just once on your account and from then on you can get basically double the weapons upgrades (and use them in classic BF2 as well!)

1gb ram and a pentium 4 is enough
but 2gb makes loading a lot faster

I have spoken to my mate who owns BF2 + SF and said it's not worth buying any expansion packs for my own personal gain just yet. So looks like it's rFactor + BF2 + £8 on something maybe Race 07. Also, I added my specs to my sig seeing as you had to type extra cos you didn't know them =[ Sorry.

As i said, special forces is good, booster packs suck

SF is worth it, even if you just use it to get more weapons for normal battlefield.

Bf2+SF in GAME is like £10

I ran BF2 on my XFX GeForce 5200 256 mb, im sure what ever model after mine can handle it , depending on OS. But thiere is still alot of players , i recomend BF2142 its way much better and more players !

no i have both and theyare each diferent

bf2142s upgrade system is better.

but i dont like how the classes are so samey, the maps arent as fun and the weapons seem, sucky.

and they both have about the same number of players on at one time

in bf2 i get 800+ servers minimum and at least half of these are like 50/64 full

BF2 is an awesome game, and IMO alot better than bf2142. And yes there are still a lot of players and servers around. The game runs pretty well with decent graphics cards, just make sure you have plenty of ram for the system. Other than that, an x-fi makes the in-game sound unbelievably realistic!

BF2 isnt a really graphic hungry game. My old old setup was able to handle it maxxed

Pentium 4 3.0ghz
1.5gb 400mhz ram
radeon x700.

My lower end desktop can handle it maxxed with these specs.

2.8ghz pentium D
1 GB of 533mhz ram
radeon x1550

see different with mine, i probly get a bit more server listings but hey if ur weapons suck ,so does theirs, Equally matched ? lol

You can buy a BF2 special edition game that has the Original BF2 along with Special Forces only. If you plan on playing online you basically need SF or else you will be at a disadvantage. Every time you rank up on BF2 you unlock a new weapon. If you have SF you unlock 2 weapons. But this is also retroactive, if you rank up and then install SF you will still get the additional unlocks. I don't think they sell the special edition in stores, but you can check places like ebay.com or half.com for it.

they do sell it its in GAME here in the UK but i think it *may* have a different name - gold edition or something?

ist £10/£15 which is like $20-$30

but hey if ur weapons suck ,so does theirs

yeah it just pisses me off how in an ice age the weapons ovrheat faster than normal and how the weapons have less capacity even although they use caseless rounds. If i was in 2142 i would go to an antiques shop and get an AK101 like in BF2 lol

Well BF2 has a couple of editions, I'm not sure which one you're talking about. The regular one with just BF2 is $10 over here. You can get the complete edition which Has BF2 + SF + 2 Expansions for $30. And then there's one that they don't sell in stores and is just BF2 with Special Forces, it's cheaper than retail because I can only find it on Half.com and ebay

I would have to agree. The ranking and award system is BF2 is genius. When I get bored of the game, I keep playing to rank up =P Combat Arms is the only other game that I know that does this, yet again I only know a handful of games.

COD 4 does it also, but in that game it's much less effective and way more complex. I just might go ahead and start playing BF2 again haha :D

But yeah, on topic, many people still play it, you just need to get BF2 and it's expansions (Special Forces, Euro Force, Armored Fury) to take full advantage of it.

if bf2 had upgradable weapons anc challenges like cod it would be awesome

hardly anyone plays euro force and armoured fury

BF2 classic is where its at, with the SF weapons.

COD is flawed though as you can get to 55 too soon

dude im only just a lietuenant or something in BF2 and i have 200 hours of playtime
