I would get dual raptors and put them in raid 0. Also I don't know if you are aware of this, I only recently found out much to my dismay, but you can't use dual monitors with SLI enabled.

I would imagine a setup like that would cost in the neighbor hood of $8000.

Yeah I'm kind of interested in price also. There's no way that would be a cheap setup.

Only if he did not look for good prices. I proberly could build it for like 3500-4000

And where would you search for these parts?

to clearify 3500-4000 with out the 2 monitors. proberly can build it just from newegg for 4000. To get really good prices try computer fairs and small shops.

yeah maybe 4000 max or maybe less. i mean if for 8000 i would rather invest that money in a car or something.

Dual opterons are not meant to be in desktop pc.. Have you ever heard of a server.... I work for a Computer store and have so for years. i have done hundredes of installs on operating systems. and yes it did take it about 7 minutes to install xp pro... this doens't include the time it takes to set up the network, or the serial number input.. Sorry you don't trust the power of AMD

beacuse i could

4 x 1gb sticks?.....
the sticks were only because i could.. I had ordered a few for a custom build i was doing.. the client backed out because of financial problems, but paid the 15% restocking fee, so they were majorly discounted.

Dual monitors enabled with extended desktop

yes you can use dual monitors with sli ensabled... there are three ways. The SLI consists of 2 pci express. alot of people ask why too. obviously so you get the full performance of your video card out of each on each screen if you look at the back of the motherboard there is silicon that bridges the peer port to the peer xx3 port (what AGP used to be). You could also use a switch hub if you wanted.

alot of the parts i had in stock, so i used them, after all said and done i estimated the cost about 5.6 or 6G. Like i said though i had alot of these parts in stock, so it seemed like less.

Thats the point. Dont want a sissy sounding computer :P

Never said they were desktops. But I do video editing.

Well then you didnt include the full standard install time then considering its limited by the cd-drive

Sorry you don't trust the power of AMD
The bottleneck is the PCI bus. Not the platform.

4 x 1gb sticks?.....
Hehe yeah and that drop the clock speed to PC2700 (or in the case with memory dividers, I think it adds 2 more to the divider...cant rmember)

i estimated the cost about 5.6 or 6G.
Hehe sorry (ouch)

first of all i think someone is jealous.. if you have what you say you have lets see some pictures... I don't beleive that you know what you are talking about.. anyone who knows anything about computers knows quiet and cool is the way to go.. Also the capture card is just for tv use.. and i understand you may not know much about computers but pci cards don't boot or post, they are internally configured to on demand control within the confines of the bios and operating system junctions.daul opterons are great for multi tasking, but all over speed mine would still beat both of those.so i say again beat this...

I don't really know what you said there, but you can't use dual monitors with SLI enabled. You can, however, use up to four monitors with SLI disabled and are running each Gfx card by itself. In my personal opinion, I think you would have been better off buying either dual monitors and one card, or buying two cards and one monitor.

Hehe i see i wasnt the only one to pick up on that ... course you could have video splitters but that's not the same :P

Perhaps but considering i paid $1500 for mine i cant complain.

Ive proven it to people that matter. Also, i refrain from making silly claims ;)

Replace "computer" with "car".

So my PCI soundcard prevents my computer form posting??? Oh crap.... :D (btw does this mean your soundcard prevents you from posting? or does it mean you have some fancy new interface)

Ok how about a 6hour source NTSC Xvid@1500kbs+5.1AC3 to PAL DVD 5.1DD encoding test? lol if you finish in 7hrs you'll still get a commendable effort gold star....
