Been a while.

I don't disagree but since he wants the computer for gaming:

DDR2 is a lot cheaper and won't give him a difference at all in gaming.
As far as hard drive space, he can ultimately choose the capacity.
He does not need 650W, heck even 500W is enough. And my suggestion is modular.
Dual core is cheaper and better for gaming, period.
Anything bigger than 3-4GB of RAM won't affect his computer unless he's gonna do some heavy picture editing.
1066 vs 1333, same as 800 vs 1066, really no big difference. Although you win on this one :P

What if he ever wants to upgrade? DDR3 is the future and in time DDR2 will be phased out just like DDR was.

If he ever wants to upgrade, then Core i7 and DDR3 will be mainstream and there will be more variety and lower prices.

I guess you're right...

But, I mean, he wants to play COD5, how hard is that? :P Hell my $500 rig maxes it out.

Well, sure, if that's all the OP wants to do with it, but obviously games just keep getting more demanding as hardware gets better.

Hey, add a decent GPU to my rig and I could play COD5 maxed out. :P

To the OP: If you want something for around $500 check out my sig and add a better GPU and HDD. I like it. :)
