beeps

My computer has begun beeping at me. When I power up, the computer beeps 3 times in quick succession then continues to desktop as normal. This beeping is a recent development. Is it it something to worry about? What causes it?
3.4mhz P4 cpu, intel mobo, 4gb ram, Windows 7 Home Premium 260Gb SATA hdd. No other problems I am aware of to date

Make and model of computer? This could be a ram failure, but usually won't boot up if its memory.
 
make and model is indeterminate as it was sold to me as an Intel Computer but has no name on the case. I listed the basic specs in my OP and memory does not seem to be a problem in general use. I might use a test program I have but it takes a long time to do. it is 5 years old but was NOS as it had been in storage for 5 years. I replaced the hard drive, ram and dvd burner when I got it.
I ran memtest for about 8 hours. It stated that it had tested 405.1% and found no errors.
