Before I buy, Question bout processors.

I currently want to replace my 5 year old laptop which has one AMD Athlon 2.0ghz chip in it.

I will be shopping for a Core 2 duo chip this time around, but I don't know much about them compaired to the single older chips performance.

I am trying to get an idea of the Core 2's duo performance vs. the single chip systems to judge what level of laptop I need to start shopping at.

For example, how would you compair a computer with Core 2 duo T2080 chips performance to my current AMD 2.0ghz chip? Will it meet or exceed my current computer's AMD 2.0 ghz performance?

this chip would go well beyond your current processor's abilities not only in processing speed but in multi tasking. What you'll notice is that when you go to do things like you did before you won't notice as much. What you have to do is re work how you use your computer. For example when i upgraded to dual core i was really able to take advantage of my dual monitors because it allowed me to do more things at once. The true power of dual core lies in your abilit to multitask.

if you looking for core 2 cpu for laptop, suggest you go for the latest T7XXX CPU.
Or, just give us some bugdet and the propose of your laptop. We then try to make some recommendation.
