Beginner needs help

Hello,

Lately I have been thinking about gettin Linux as a second OS. So i got MandrivaOne. The problem is that I can't make it work. I got all the files, burned them on a CD but nothing happens when I put it in the CD Drive. Am I suppose to put it at start-up or anytime?

Any help appreciated

linux distributions are often distributed as a iso image. you need to burn it on cd, but not as data cd. you must choose the option "burn image on cd" or something similar (it depends on the program you use) a then, when you have it, restart your computer, go to BIOS and set booting from cd. then just insert the cd and it should work
 
Ok so I tried it an liked it.

Now can someone explains to me how to install on my partition, on a slave HD?
I already transefered the DATA to another HD.
