Beginner's laptop

Hi I have a friend who is looking for a laptop to do some basic work. It has to have wireless built in, a dvd burner, atleast a 60gb hd, basic graphics card and a good price also. I was looking at dell and also lenovo. Does anyone know any suggestions about those two companies and also if there is another company go right ahead and tell me.

What is his budget?

I would go for a simple Dell with a Core Duo processor, a gig of ram, and 60GB hard drive, and the standard GPU. It is pretty basic.

O and a DVD burner.
 
Some photoshop, surfing the internet, checking email... stuff like that but it also has to have good battery life. Atleast 4 hours
