Beginning to hate wireless networking

I am trying to install the lynksys software so my dughters computer will get internet and I can't. When I download the WUSB54g ver 4 drivers for vista 32bit it does not give me a .exe file to run. It only gives me a .inf and a .sys file. How am I suppose to install this?

Go into device manager. there should be a listing with a yellow exclamation mark. right click and select update driver. then you follow thr prompts and select "have disk"

Then you browse the the .sys and .inf files and then it should work.

In vista/7 you go

right clock on my computer, properties, and device manager will be on the left.

Ok the driver is installed but it will not detect any network. What happened was her brother installed uninstalled avg because of the issue i stated in security section. He installed spyware terminator and something else. I dont know what it is but when she ran a scan of the unknown one that is when the internet stopped working.

It might have removed it...repeat the first processes and see if it fixes it. Simply put reinstall the driver for it then rescan using AVG and stay there for the scan to make sure its not removing anything. If you do a full-scan manually it wont auto-delete items (least mine doesn't) but if you right click the icon it to start a scan it will.

Also I would be VERY wary of spyware terminator last I heard they were connected with IBIS which is a well known adware distributor that made Websearch and Huntbar. I would substitute with Spybot. Just a little info its your call.

Well she actually got her brother to come over, apparently whatever happened it prevented damn near anything from working. Windows firewall was disabled and couldnt change it, would not detect any new hardware. So he is doing something to it right now. Thanks for the help anyway though :)

Yeah it's funny, for someone who knows as much about computers as he does he sure is stubborn. He does not like any spyware or virus program i suggest to be on her computer. He removed malwarebytes and superantispyware when he removed AVG and installed those others. So I am going to let HIM fix it, BTW he did say it was a virus.
