Best Alternative to Windows Media Player

Hi All

Just upgraded to Windows 7 and found that WMP 12 is buggy as hell... No matter what I do (and Ive tried all the fixes I could find) WMP 12 just wont save my library info and has to import all my music every time I open it.

So... Whats the best alternative to WMP 12? I like WMP how it has a library for artists, with albums and ablum art and details... How it volume levels the files etc...

So basically after something as close to WMP as possible and hopefully having the below:

- Automatic album info gathering off the internet (like WMP does)
- Volume leveling of the music imported
- A way to change the file name format of all imported files
- Plays videos and the like too, DVD/Mp4 etc.

Winamp does do video. My complaint though is it is like WMP in that you have to mess around with codecs once in awhile.

I have never had to install a codec for VLC, it just seems to play all the commonly used Video formats with no fuss.

VLC plays most audio formats also, and some of the odd ones like ogg, flac, ape, but it lacks a nice user interface.

When playing Videos at full screen who cares about the interface.
 
^If i remember right it does. I still use winamp occasionally, so i'll agree with the people who said to use it.
 
These features as you mentioned shoud have iTunes with its Quick Time Player. But i use for playing video files Media Player Classic. If WMP 12 imports all your music every time you open it, did you check options of Windows Media Player? Our computer servis is recommending VLC software because our customers have best experiencies with that.

Got Winamp... Now looking for skins...

Does anyone know if there is a see through or non existant skin? Like all the buttons/lists/options/controls/album art etc would be in place but it would like hover over what ever was behind it on the computer (like the desktop, or a internet brouser or whatever I had up)

Is there something like this as I think this would be cool...
