Best Antivirus

Which is the best antivirus in the world. If i install the antivirus while viruses are already in the computer, is the antivirus going to remove all viruses. Why sometimes you will realise that antiviruses wont block all the viruses in your computer. Is there any antivirus that usually blocks all viruses that are damaging your system. Plaese help as I am struggling to solve all those problems. Peter.

No anti-virus can detect and remove everything, but some are much better than others.

The two anti-virus products which I recommend are Avast Free and Microsoft Security Essentials. Both are free to download.

I also recommend downloading and installing Malwarebytes which is also free and usually picks up whatever MSE and Avast can't.

If you install the AV whilst there are viruses on the PC, yes the AV can usually remove the viruses.

Thanks very much Spirit, i think definately this will help me quite. So if the viruses are fully wiped up, does that mean i wont get new viruses as long as i am protected by the same antivirus?

There are millions of people that get infected while running an antivirus program. Nothing is fullproof. New malware comes out on a daily basis so not all antivirus programs will have the definitions for that infection in their database yet.

The best way to prevent getting a virus or malware is not really the anti-virus software, it is your own use most people get infected by thoughtless clicking on links, visiting dodgy small websites and in my experience the king of virus sources playing and downloading silly online games.

Like everyone said nothing is fullproof, I use Avast (free) and Malwarebyte's anti-malware.

If you're infected let us know :)

Anti Virus could be equated to a bullet proof vest. Sure it helps when you get shot/virus but it's not always going to completely protect you, and it also doesn't mean that because you have it you should just be jumping in to every gun fight you run in to.

Make sure you only have one anti-virus installed by the way.

It's OK to have a single anti-virus and Malwarebytes installed though, since Malwarebytes isn't an AV and only runs on demand.
